লোভাছড়া, সিলেট

উত্তর-পূর্ব থেকে উত্তর পশ্চিম পর্যন্ত সিলেটকে ঘিরে রাখা মেঘালয় পাহাড়শ্রেনীর পূর্ব অংশে কানাইঘাট উপজেলার সীমান্তবর্তী অঞ্চল লোভাছড়া। লোভাছড়া মুলতঃ একটি পাথর কোয়ারী, এ ছাড়া এখানে অনেক পুরনো একটি চাবাগান রয়েছে। 

লোভাছড়া যেতে হলে পর্যটকদের প্রথমে যেতে হবে কানাইঘাট উপজেলা সদরে। সিলেট নগরী থেকে কানাইঘাট যাওয়ার কয়েকটি পথ আছে। সিলেট জাফলং মহাসড়কের উপর দরবস্ত বাজার থেকে হাতের ডান দিকে রাস্তা চলে গেছে কানাইঘাট পর্যন্ত। মাইক্রোতে ঘন্টা দেড়েক এর মতো সময় লাগবে। এই রাস্তাটি ও সুন্দর। বামদিকে জৈন্তিয়া পাহাড়ের সারি । কানাইঘাট উপজেলা সদর সুরমা নদীর তীরে। নদীরঘাট থেকে নৌকা নিয়ে যাত্রা শুরু করতে হয় লোভাছড়ার দিকে। নৌকা এগুতে থাকে পূর্ব দিকে। একটা পয়েন্টে এসে নৌকা পড়বে তিন নদীর মোহনায়। দক্ষিন থেকে এসেছে বরাক, উত্তর থেকে লোভা। এই দুই নদী মিশে সুরমা হিসেবে চলে গেছে পশ্চিমে। এই মোহনায় এসে নৌকা প্রবেশ করে স্বচ্ছ পানির নদী ‘লোভা’য়। 

লোভা নদীর স্বচ্ছ কাঁচের মতো পানিতে দূরবর্তী পাহাড় সারির ছায়া এক মোহময় দৃশ্যের জন্ম দেয়। নদীর তীর থেকে উঁচু পাহাড়ের ঢাল পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত লোভাছড়া চা বাগান। এই বাগানে রয়েছে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় ধ্বংসপ্রাপ্ত ফ্যাক্টরী। বাগান কর্তৃপক্ষের অনুমতি নিয়ে পুরনো বাংলো দেখা আবশ্যক পর্যটকদের জন্য। বেশ উঁচু পাহাড়ের উপর নির্মিত এই বাংলোটি ‘ফার্গুসন’ এর বাংলো নামে পরিচিত। ফার্গুসন পরিবার এর হাতেই এই চাবাগানের পত্তন হয়েছিলো। 

এছাড়া সীমান্তরক্ষীদের অনুমতিসাপেক্ষের লোভা নদীর উৎসমুখে গেলে পর্যটকদের চোখে পড়বে সীমান্তের ওপাড়ে দুই পাহাড়ের সংযোগকারী দীর্ঘ ঝুলন্ত ব্রীজ। 

কানাইঘাট থেকে লোভাছড়া নৌকায় যেতে সময় লাগবে প্রায় দেড়ঘণ্টা।

Lovachora is a bordering area from Kanaighat Upazilla in the eastern part of Sylhet district, which is somewhat fortified from northeast to northwest by the Meghalayan ranges. It is essentially a quarry where stones and boulders are mined, besides an age-old tea garden.

The shades of far-flung hills falling on the crystal clear streams of the Lova make for a heavenly sight.

Visit to Lovachora involves with a boat journey from Kanaighat Sodor. As the boat moves east, it will soon reach the confluence of three rivers. Flowing respectively from the south and north, the Borak and the Lova meet at one point, assume the name Surma and flow west towards Sylhet city. 

The shades of far-flung hills falling on the crystal clear streams of the Lova make for a heavenly sight. The Lovachora Tea Garden is spread over a wide area from the river bank to the slopes of the hills. Still preserved in the garden is a tea factory ravaged in the War of Liberation in 1971. Together with an antique cottage, it is a must-see for visitors. The hilltop cottage is popularly known as Fergusson Bungalow, named after the Fergusson family who set up the tea garden. 

What’s more, subject to the permission from the border patrol force BGB, tourists can go to the source of the Lova and see the hanging bridge which connects two hills on the other side of the border.

How to go there?

One has to go to Kanaighat Upazilla Sadar first to reach Lovachora. Different routes can be taken to go to Kanaighat from Sylhet. One option would be to use the Sylhet-Jaflong Highway and take a right turn at Dorbosth Bazaar. The one-and-a-half-hour drive itself is an attraction in its own right. On the left are rows of the Jainta hills. Upon reaching Kanaighat Upazilla Sadar, which is on the bank of the Surma, tourists can hire a boat to go to Lovachora. 

The boat ride from Kanaighat to Lovachora takes an hour and a half.

Where to stay?

There is no accommodation facilities in Lovachora. If needed may stay at local hotel in Kanaighat.

Where to eat?

There is no Dining facility in Kanaighat. But may have some local food at Kanaighat Bazar

Information you need to know?

After crossing the Tea garden, it is extreme border of Bangladesh- India. Very often there are BGB petrol team. Without their permission its not wise to go further. . At Monsoon sometimes it may affected by flush flood. So getting weather information is advisable.
