ইউনাইটেড আরব এমিরেটস (UAE) ট্রিপ ২০১৮

আমি যখন দুবাই নামি অবাক হয়েছি রাস্তা ঘাটে, এদিক সেদিক ইন্ডিয়ান আর পাকিস্তানি দেখে। আমার আসলে আইডিয়াই ছিল না ইউনাইটেড আরব এমিরেটসে এত মাল্টি লিঙ্গুয়াল পিপল থাকবে। কারন এই দেশে যাবার আগে আমি একদমই সেই দেশ নিয়ে পড়ালেখা করার টাইম পাই নাই, গুগল ট্রিপ টিপে টিপে প্লেনে আর এয়ারপোর্টে যা কতটুকু টাইম পেয়েছি জেনেছিলাম। জেনে রাখা ভালো দুবাইতে ৫০ লাখ মানুষ বাস করে যার ২৬ লাখ মানুষ ইন্ডিয়ান। হিন্দি এই দেশের ৩য় ভাষা। ইভেন ট্যাক্সি ড্রাইভারদের সাথেও কথা বলতে আমার ব্যাপক বেগ পেতে হয়েছে, তারা হিন্দি ছাড়া কথা বলবে না, তার উপর ইংরেজিও জানে না। গুগল ম্যাপটাও ঠিক মত চালাতে পারে না। জেনে রাখা ভালো, ইউনাইটেড আরব এমিরেটসে মেসেঞ্জার, হোয়াটসএপ, ভাইবার দিয়ে কল করা যায় না।

আর তাদের রয়েছে সাতটা এমিরেটস, একত্রে ইউনাইটেড আরব এমিরেটস বলে।

শারজাহ থেকে দুবাই আসতে প্রায় ১ ঘন্টা লাগে ট্যাক্সি করে। এয়ারপোর্টে এরাইভাল সাইডে বের হয়েই ট্যাক্সি স্ট্যান্ড আছে। সিরিয়ালি ট্যাক্সি এসে পিক করে নিয়ে যাবে আপনাকে। আপনি শুধু উঠবেন আর বলবেন কই যাবেন। তারা গন্তব্যে নিয়ে যেতে বাধ্য। কারন তাদের ট্যাক্সিতে ভয়েস রেকর্ডার, লাইভ ক্যাম আছে যা তাদের Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) কন্ট্রোল করে সেন্ট্রালি। তাদের ৯ রকমের ট্যাক্সি আছে। 

- Airport taxi- These vehicles are exclusive to arriving visitors to Dubai International Airport

- Hatta taxi- This service is provided to residents of City of Hatta however it does have the jurisdiction authority to pick up and drop off customers from Dubai and vice-versa. 

- Ladies taxi- This service can be distinguished from other taxis by the vehicle’s Pink Roof Top

- Limousine taxi- DTC Limousine Service is a luxury chauffeur driven vehicle designed to serve the needs of the Tourism Industry clients

- Mashaweer- Mashweer the New Services allows for fully trained and competent drivers (without taxis) to interested parties for a limited period of time.

- Public taxi- This general service is open to all customers who wish to use DTC taxi for all their different travel needs within the UAE.

- SMS taxi service- SMS Taxi Service require the customer to enter the area number shown in the SMS board in a text message (SMS) and sends it to (4774)

- Special needs taxi- Special Needs Taxi service is a highly sophisticated vehicle, equipped and design with travel comfort in mind.

- Taxi rental- DTC offers taxi with driver rental service to travel within Dubai Only by reserving 24 hour in advance via Dispatch Center

উন্নত প্রযুক্তি আর লেটেস্ট মডেলের গাড়ির জন্য এই সার্ভিস খুবই জনপ্রিয়, সেখানে তাই উবার একটি লস প্রজেক্ট। এপের মাঝে Careem একটু জনপ্রিয় কিন্তু গাড়ি কম সেখানে, তাই  ট্যাক্সি ইউজ করাটা বুদ্ধিমানের কাজ। ট্যাক্সি ফেয়ার দুবাই, শারজাহ, আবু ধাবিতে একটু বেশিই তুলনামুলক ভাবে ইউরোপের চেয়ে। ওপেনিং ফেয়ার ২৫ দিরহাম দুবাই এয়ারপোর্ট থেকে। এছাড়া লোকালি ১২ দিরহাম ওপেনিং ফেয়ার। এক এমিরেটস থেকে আরেক এমিরেটসে যেতে টোল দেয়া লাগে। যেমন, দুবাই থেকে আবু ধাবি যেতে টোল দেয়া লাগে লেস দ্যান ৩০ দিরহাম। টোলকে তারা আরবিতে বলে সালিক। আর সালিক হল ক্যাশলেস একটা ট্রান্সেকশান। নিজের গাড়ি হলে অবশ্যই সালিক ট্যাগ লাগবে। চিন্তার কোন কারন নেই, সালিক ট্যাগ সব গাড়িতেই থাকে আর ড্রাইভার আপনার সালিক তার বিলের সাথেই যোগ করে দিবে, লেটেস্ট গাড়িগুলোতে সালিক গেইট পার হলেই বিলের সাথে অটো যোগ হয়ে যাবে। 

আজকে আমি বলবো দুবাই সিটির হোটেল নিয়ে। যারা এমিরেটসে গিয়েছেন তারা জানেন দুবাইতে ফাইভ স্টার হোটেলে ভরপুর। সব বড় বড় হোটেলের চেইন বিজনেস রয়েছে সেখানে। আমি আমার দেখা ১৫টা ফাইভ স্টার মানের সেরা হোটেলের নাম শেয়ার করবো আজ। দুইটা যায়গায় বেশি হোটেল রয়েছে একটা ল্যান্ডমার্ক হল বুর দুবাই (Bur Dubai), আরেকটা দেইরা (Deira)। এছাড়া দুবাই মলের পাশেই বুর্জ খলিফা, তার আশে পাশেই সব ফাইভ স্টার হোটেলে ভরপুর। এছাড়া শেখ যায়েদ রোড, জুমেইরাহ, পোর্ট সায়েদ, আল রিজ্ঞা, আল বারসা, নাইফ এই যায়গাগুলোতে অনেক হোটেল রয়েছে।

নাম দিয়ে আর জায়গার নাম দিয়ে গুগল ম্যাপ চেক করলেই পেয়ে যাবেন। জেনে রাখা ভালো দুবাইতে গুগল ম্যাপ খুব কাজের। যারা গিয়েছেন তারা হয়ত জানেন, আর যারা সামনে যাবেন তারা খুব উপকার পাবেন যদি গুগল ম্যাপ ইউজ করেন।

হোটেল খুজে বের করা তেমন কোন কষ্টের কাজ নয় সেখানে যদি ম্যাপ আর ট্যাক্সি ইউজ করেন।

হয়ত মনে ধারনা জমেছে ফাইভ স্টার হোটেল ছাড়া বুঝি দুবাইতে থাকার জায়গা নেই? হ্যা কথা কিছুটা সত্য। ফাইভ স্টার অথবা ফোর স্টার হোটেল অনেক, সেখানে থ্রী স্টার লেভেলের হোটেল বের করা কিছুটা কষ্টের। তবে তার জন্য আপনি আগোডা ডট কম অথবা বুকিং ডট কম থেকে সাহায্য নিতে পারেন, দাম যাচাই করতে পারেন, আবার বুক করে নিশিন্তে ভ্রমন করতে পারেন।

আর যারা এমিরেটস এয়ারওয়েজে যাবেন তারা এমিরেটস হলিডেজ থেকেই সব সার্ভিস পাবেন। তারাই ভিসা, টিকেটিং, হোটেল বুকিং সবই করে দিবে।

এগুলো পার নাইট ২৮০-৩১৫ ডলারের হোটেল ৪ স্টার মানের। তবে আপনি যদি আরো চিপে থাকতে চান তো দেইরাতে (Deira) অনেক ইন্ডিয়ান হোটেল আছে সেগুলোতে থাকতে পারেন। আগেই বলেছি আমি দুবাইতে ৫০ লাখ মানুষের মাঝে ২৬ লাখই ইন্ডিয়ান। অনেক ইউরোপিয়ানরা Deira-তেই আশে পাশে থাকেন, তবে Deira সিটি সেন্টার অথবা আল রিজ্ঞার আশে পাশে অনেক চিপ হোটেল আছে থ্রি স্টার মানের, এছাড়া এই দুই যায়গাতেই দুবাই মেট্রো লিঙ্ক আছে।

অনেকেই মেট্রোতে চড়তে পছন্দ করেন চিপ ফেয়ারের কারনে। সো এই ল্যান্ডমার্কগুলো লাইক করবেন আশা করি। এছাড়া কিছু থ্রি স্টার মানের ১৫ টা ভালো হোটেলের নাম আর ঠিকানা দিচ্ছি কাজে লাগতে পারে।

আরো হোটেলের প্রেফারেন্স থাকলে আগোডা ডট কম অথবা বুকিং ডট কমে দেখতে পারেন।

আজকে আমার আলোচনা দুবাই মেট্রো নিয়ে। দুবাইকে ট্রান্সপোর্টে এগিয়ে নিয়ে গিয়েছে এই মেট্রো রেল লিঙ্ক। জ্যামকে তারা টাটা গুডবাই জানিয়েছে সেই ২০০৯ সালেই। আল ঘুরাইর গ্রুপ হল এই মেট্রো বিল্ডার, আর সেই সময় এই প্রজেক্ট ওপেন করেন দুবাই সিটির শাসক মোহাম্মাদ বিন রশিদ আল মাক্তুম।

সবচেয়ে আধুনিক আর অটোমেশানের সংমিশ্রণে এই রেল সিস্টেম। মেট্রো বগিতে গোল্ড ক্লাস, মহিলা আর বাচ্চাদের রয়েছে আলাদা স্থান।

এছাড়া রয়েছেঃ

এছাড়াও রয়েছে Tactile Guidance Path যা দেখে যে কেউ মেট্রো রেলে ছবি সহকারে গাইডলাইন পাবে। লিফট সুবিধা ছাড়াও রয়েছে Wheelchair Access, Platform Alerts, বড় বড় Informative Displays বোর্ড।

আসুন ম্যাপ দেখে নেই-

এখানে কিছু রুলস রয়েছে মেট্রো রেলে চড়ার, যেগুলাকে বলে এটিক্যাট। যেমনঃ

১. ধাক্কা ধাক্কি করবেন না
২. নিজের একটা পার্সোনাল স্পেস বজায় রাখবেন
৩. অপরকে যায়গা দিবেন, কেউ জোরে হেটে গেলে তাকে যায়গা করে দিবেন
৪. রেল আসলে হুড়াহুড়ি না করে, আগে নামতে দিতে হবে, তারপর উঠতে হবে।

আর একটা ব্যাগেজ পলিসি রয়েছে যা হল ২ টা সুটকেইস আপনি বহন করতে পারবেন যেগুলোর সাইজ হল-

১. 1 x Large Suitcase (Dimensions should not exceed 81cm x 58cm x 30cm)
২. 1 x Small Suitcase (Dimensions should not exceed 55cm x 38cm x 20cm)

মেট্রো রেলের কিছু জরিমানার কথা জেনে রাখা ভালো, যারা দুবাই ঘুরতে যাবেন এগুলো মাথায় রাখবেন।

১. টিকেট আর মেট্রো NOI (The Nol Card is an electronic ticketing card that was released in for all mode of public transport in Dubai services) কার্ড আর ফেয়ার নিয়ে টেম্পারিং করলে ২০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
২. নকল NOI কার্ড ইউজ করলে ৫০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
৩. রেস্ট্রিক্টেড এরিয়াতে গেলে ১০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
৪. নন প্যাসেঞ্জার এরিয়াতে দাড়ালে/বসলে ১০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
৫. সিটের উপর পা রাখলে ১০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
৬. কিছু বিক্রি/মার্কেটিং করলে ২০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
৭. পাবলিক ট্রান্সপোর্টের অথোরাইজড ব্যাক্তির সাথে ঝামেলা পাকালে ২০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
৮. মহিলা বা বাচ্চাদের বসার জায়গায় পুরুষ কেউ বসলেই ১০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
৯. যে জায়গায় খাওয়া দাওয়া করতে মানা, সেখানে খাওয়া দাওয়া করলে ১০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
১০. প্যাসেঞ্জার শেলটার এরিয়াতে ঘুমালে ৩০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
১১. পাবলিক ট্রান্সপোর্ট সার্ভিসের কোন জিনিষ নষ্ট করলে প্রমান পেলেই ২০০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
১২. নন পার্কিং এরিয়াতে পার্কিং করলে/যেখানে পাবলিক ট্রান্সপোর্ট  পার্কিং করে সেখানে আপনি গাড়ী পার্কিং করলেই ডেইলি ১০০ দিরহাম আর সর্বোচ্চ ১০০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
১৩. পোষা প্রানি নিয়ে উঠা যাবেন না, নতুবা ১০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা, তবে যারা অন্ধ তারা গাইড কুকুর নিয়ে উঠতে পারবে
১৪. বমি করে দিলে ২০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা পরিষ্কার করার জন্য। আর নিজেকেই পরিষ্কার করা লাগবে।
১৫. পাবলিক প্লেসে, রেলের ভিতর, প্যাসেঞ্জার এরিয়াতে স্মোকিং করলেই ২০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
১৬. লিফট মিস ইউজ করলে, লাফ দিয়ে নামলে/উঠলে, চলন্ত রেলের বগি ওপেন করার ট্রাই করলে ১০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
১৭. ড্রাইভারের সাথে পাকনামি করলে ২০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
১৮. মদ, গাজা, ইয়াবা, আইস নিয়ে উঠলে ৫০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
১৯. বন্দুক, শার্প চাকু, দাহ্য কিছু নিয়ে উঠলেই ১০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা
২০. ইমার্জেন্সি নয় এমন সময় সেইফটি টুলকিট ব্যবহার করে গুতাগুতি করলে ২০০০ দিরহাম জরিমানা।

দুবাই মেট্রোরেল ২ ধরনের, জেনে রাখা ভালো।

১. রেড লাইন UAE Exchange to Rashidiya পর্যন্ত চলে
Saturday To Wednesday 5:00 am - 12:00 am পর্যন্ত চলে
Thursday 5:00 am - 1:00 am (The next day) পর্যন্ত চলে
Friday 10:00 am - 1:00 am (The next day) পর্যন্ত চলে
২. গ্রিন লাইন Etisalat to Creek পর্যন্ত চলে
Saturday To Wednesday 5:30 am - 12:00 am পর্যন্ত চলে
Thursday 5:30 am - 1:00 am (The next day) পর্যন্ত চলে
Friday 10:00 am - 1:00 am (The next day) পর্যন্ত চলে

RTA Dubai App ইউজ করে আপনিও পাবলিক ট্রান্সপোর্ট খুব সহজে ব্যবহার করতে পারেন দুবাইতে।

মালয়েশিয়ায় প্রথম দিন

মালয়েশিয়ায় যাবো যাবো করে এক বছর ধরে প্ল্যান হচ্ছিলো। কিন্তু পার্টনারের অভাবে যাওয়া হয়নি গত বছর। এবারও সেই সেইম সমস্যা পার্টনার পাচ্ছিলাম না। আমার বন্ধু আলি বললো ব্যাটা একা আয় আমি আর স্যান্ডি আছি আর কি লাগে? সেই কথায় বললাম ব্যাটা আমার ভিসা লাগা। আইতেছি। তারপর আলি ১৫ দিনের মাঝেই আমার মালয়েশিয়ান ভিসা করাই দিলো। আর ৫ দিনে সিঙ্গাপুর ভিসা লাগাই দিলো।

চলে এল সেই দিন, সকাল সকাল ব্যাগ রেডি করে সন্ধ্যায় খেয়ে বের হলাম এয়ারপোর্টের দিকে। বাসা থেকে এয়ারপোর্ট ১০ মিনিট লাগে আমার। আর্লি ওয়েব চেক ইন করে নিলাম মালয়েশিয়ান এয়ারলাইন্সে।

ইমিগ্রেশান শেষ করে বসে রইলাম। সিল টিল দিয়া দিলো, কত কাহিনি মারাইলো আমাগো ইমিগ্রেশান। আসলে ভাবে কথা কইলে সব শালা কনফিউজড হয়, ভাবের উপর পালটা ভাব নিলে ব্যাটারা পাল্টা কনফিউজড হয়। এইটাই আসল কথা আমাগো দেশের ইমিগ্রেশান পার হতে মনে রাখবেন। আলিকে কল দিলাম, দোস্ত কাল সকালে দেখা হবে। অনেক আলাপ সালাপ হল। রাত ২ টায় ফ্লাইট ছিল। ২.৩০ বাজাইছে বোর্ডিং -এ।

জেনে রাখা ভালো আমার মালায়শিয়া ভিসা করতে কি কি পেপার্স লেগেছে বলে দেই। অনেকেই আজাইয়া কথা বার্তা বলবে, অনেক এজেন্ট ফাউ, কিছু জানে না (আমাদের দেশে ব্যাঙ্গের ছাতার মত মেলা ট্রাভেল এজেন্ট জন্মাইছে, সো সাবধান) হাজার এক্সকিউজ দিবে। আর ভিসার জন্য পেপার্স সব ওকে থাকবে/ভ্যালিড থাকবে/ট্রু থাকবে তাইলে আপনি ভিসা পাবেন। 

১. পাসপোর্ট ৬ মাসের ভ্যালিডিটি থাকতে হবে

২. ছবি ২ কপি (ম্যাট পেপার্স) 35 mm x 50 mm

৩. Letter of Introduction and Salary Certificate cum Employment cum Leave acceptance Certificate 

৪. 2 Business Card

৫. 6 Months Bank statement of Salary Account, Solvency Certificate of Salary Account with seal and bank's letter head page (Must have 1.5 Lac BDT on last day balance)

৬. 6 Months Bank statement of other Savings Account, Solvency Certificate of Savings Account with seal and bank's letter head page. (Must have 1.5 Lac BDT on last day balance)

৭. Credit Card copies /last months credit card e-statements

৮. National ID Card photocopy

৯. Birth Certificate

১০. Air Ticket booking copy/Itinerary for round-trip flight 

১১. Hotel Booking copy

১২. Fully completed and duly signed application form

এই সব ডক আমি আলির ঘুরে আসি ট্যুর প্ল্যানার কে দিয়ে দিয়েছিলাম আলহামদুলিল্লাহ ১২ দিনে আমার মালায়শিয়ান ভিসা পেয়ে গিয়েছিলাম, কোন ঝামেলা ছাড়াই। এবার আসল কথায় আসি, প্লেনের টিকেট কেটে রেখেছিলাম আমি এক মাস আগেই সেই আলির মাধ্যমেই। কিন্তু আমার সিঙ্গাপুর ভিসা তত দিনে না হবার কারনে আমি ৭ দিন পিছাই জার্নি ডেইট। আর সেখানেই অনেক টাকা যায় গচ্চা। সেই যাই হউক আমি প্লেনে উঠার সময় খেয়াল করলাম আমার সাথের কার ৯৯% বাংগালি যারা মালায়শিয়ায় যাচ্ছে কাজের জন্য। আমাকে কেউ যখন জিজ্ঞেস করে ভাই কই কাম করতে যাইতেছেন, আমি কই কিয়ের কাম? আমি তো ঘুরতে যাই। অনেকেই অবাক হয়ছে এই কথা শুনে। সে যাই হোক কথা তেমন বাড়াই নাই। আমি আমার মত বসে বসে ভাবতেছি কখন যামু, কেমনে নামার পর হোটেল যামু, গুগল করছিলাম।  রাত ২.৩০ এ প্লেনে চেপে বসলাম, ২.৪০ এর দিকে ছেঁড়ে দিল। খানা পিনা আর ঘুমেই ৩ ঘন্টা কেটে গেল। কান বন্ধ হয়ে ছিল ৩ ঘন্টা। 

 

জার্নিটা ভালই ছিল। ভাবছিলাম ৩ ঘন্টায় কুয়ালালামপুর নেমে যাচ্ছি। আর আমি ১৭ বার ১৭ ঘন্টা লাগাই লাগাই কক্সবাজার যাইতাম। ভাবতে ভাবতেই নেমে পড়লাম। ্নামার পর দেখি আরেক কাহিনি, বাপরে অনেক বড় এয়ারপোর্ট, এক টার্মিনাল থেকে আরেক টার্মিনাল যাইতে দেখি ট্রেন লাগে। ইমিগ্রেশান পর্যন্ত আসতে প্রায় আমার ১৫ মিনিট হাটা লেগেছে। ব্যগেজ সিস্টেম টাও খুব সুন্দর। টিভিতে দেখাচ্ছে কোন বেল্টে আসবে, সেখানেই দাঁড়ালাম, চলে আসলো ১০ মিনিটেই। কোন হ্যাসেল নাই । আমাদের দেশের সাথে তুলনা করলে তারা আমাদের থেকে ৩০ বছর এগিয়ে আছে। আমি তুলনা দিলে অনেক কিছুই দিতে পারতাম। কিন্তু একটা জিনিষ না বললেই নয় আমি সেখানে নিজে যাবার পর ৭ দিনে চেইঞ্জ হয়ে গিয়েছিলাম। এত সুন্দর পরিষ্কার পরিচ্ছন্ন একটা দেশ, নিজ থেকে ময়লা ফেলতে গেলেও খারাপ লাগতো, দরকার হলে ১০ মিনিট হেটে ময়লার বক্স বের করে ময়লা ফেলতাম।  

ইমিগ্রেশান ক্রস করেই বের হবার আগেই সিম কিনলাম। বাস টার্মিনাল না খুঁজে গ্র্যাব কল কলাম। 

Grab না থাকলে আমার মালায়শিয়া জার্নি এত আরামের হত না। সো যারাই যাবেন, এই এপটা নামাবেন, উবারের মত কাজ করে। অনেক আরামে জার্নি করতে পারবেন, খরচও অনেক কম। গ্র্যাবের ড্রাইভাররা অনেক স্মার্ট। আমাদের দেশের উবার ড্রাইভারগো মত না, ফোন দিয়ে জিগাবে ভাই আপনে কই আছেন? কই যাইবেন? কোন রাস্তায় আসুম? কোন চিপায় ঢুকুম? ভাই রাস্তা খারাপ আপনে সামনে আসেন, ৫০ টাকা বকশিশ দিয়েন। শালার এসব ক্যাচাল থেকে ৭ দিন আরামে আছিলাম।  সব ড্রাইভার জিপিএস/গুগল নেভিগেশান ইউজ করে করে আমাকে বের করতো। কেউ কোনদিন ফোন দিয়ে আউল ফাউল ও জিগায় নাই। 

হোটেলে খুব সুন্দর করে আমাকে নামাই দিল গ্র্যাব ড্রাইভার। আমার হোটেল থেকে ৫৫ কিমি দূরে ছিল এয়ারপোর্ট। রাস্তায় কোন জ্যাম নাই। মানুষের ঠেলা ঠেলি নাই। লাইন/লেন মেনে গাড়ি চালাচ্ছে সবাই।

এই হল আমার দিনের প্রথম ভাগের কাহিনী। এই যে লম্বা টাওয়ারটা দেখছেন ১৭০ তলা হবে এটা। যেটা ৬০ কিমি দূর থেকে দেখা যাচ্ছে। তাদের টুইন টাওয়ারকেও ছাড়িয়ে যাবে এটা। 

INN B Park Hotel এ আমার হোটেল বুকিং ছিল, সেটা Bukit Bintang-এ। সুন্দর এলাকা, ছিম ছাম পরিবেশ। নিট এন্ড ক্লিন রাস্তা ঘাট। INN B Park Hotel ছিল ফুল চায়না বেইজড একটা হোটেল, এখানে টিপিক্যাল বাংলাদেশিরা উঠে না।

বাংলাদেশীরা উঠে সেই টুইন টাওয়ারের কাছে। সেটা তাদের খুব নাকি ভালো লাগে। এইদিকে আমার ভালই লেগেছিল। সব কিছুই হাতের নাগালে। দুপুরের দিকে আলি, স্যন্ডি আসলো দেখা করতে। গেলাম টাইম স্কয়ার মার্কেটে। ডলার ভাংগাইলাম, KFC তে বার্গার খাইলাম, ওমা একি খেলাম। আকাশ পাতাল তফাত পেলাম প্রথম বাইটে। খাচ্ছিলাম আর মনে মনে ভাবছিলাম শালার কোন দেশে থাকি আমরা। আলিরা এখানে এসবে ইউজটু হয়ে গিয়েছে, সেটা বুঝা যাচ্ছিল। তাই তাদের সাথে তাল মিলানো কষ্ট, সেটা ধরতে আরো কয়েকদিন লেগে যাবে বুঝতে পারলাম। বাংলাদেশর পচা KFC খেয়ে মালয়েশিয়ায় গিয়ে KFC এর পার্থক্য সেদিনই বুঝলাম। বাকি খাবার দাবারের টেষ্ট কেমন হবে সেটা আর বুঝতে বাকি রইলো না। সময় যাচ্ছে আর নতুন কিছু দেখছিলাম, সেই বেলায় আর বেশিক্ষন একসাথে থাকা হয়নি।

আলি, আমি, স্যান্ডি

আমি কিছুক্ষন রেস্ট নিয়ে নিলাম, ওরা আবার আসলো। বললো মামু আসো তোমাকে টুইন টাওয়ার দেখাই।

এই সেই পেট্রনাস টুইন টাওয়ার, অব মালয়েশিয়া। সেখানে বসেই আসলে আমাদের আগামীদিনের প্ল্যান প্রোগ্রাম করা হয়েছিল।

সামনে একটা পার্কের মত যায়গা। খুব সুন্দর এলাকা। অনেক অনেক ফরেইনার আসছিল, ছবি তুলছিল। এছাড়া বাচ্চা নিয়ে বাবা মায়ের আনাগোনা ছিল দেখার মত। সেই দেশ যে বাচ্চাদের নিয়ে এত চিন্তা করে সেটা বুঝা যায় তাদের স্থাপনা দেখেই। ফিউচার জেনারেশানের জন্য তাদের বিনোদনের অনেক কিছু রেখেছে। আর আমি ভাবছিলাম দেশের কথা। আহা হতাশ হয়ে গেলাম।

এখানে মাগরিব হয় রাত ৮টায়। এরপর ডিনারের জন্য গেলাম ম্যাক ডোনাল্ডসে। ঘুরে ফিরে সেই একই কথা, আকাশ পাতাল তফাত পেলাম প্রথম বাইটে। খাচ্ছিলাম আর মনে মনে ভাবছিলাম শালার কোন দেশে থাকি আমরা।

বার্গার আর এক রিঙ্গিতের ভ্যানিলা আইস্ক্রিম খাইতে খাইতে রাত ৯.৩০ বেজে গেল। আজকের মত এখানেই সমাপ্তি, আগামিকালের ট্রিপ হবে Genting Highlands. সেই নিয়ে রাতে কিছুক্ষন গুগল করলাম হোটেলে বসে বসে।

St. Martin's Island (Bengali: সেন্ট মার্টিন্স দ্বীপ) is a small island (area only 8 km) in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula, and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. There is a small adjoining island that is separated at high tide, called Chera Dwip. It is about 8 kilometres (5 miles) west of the northwest coast of Myanmar, at the mouth of the Naf River.

The first settlement started 250 years ago by Arabian sailors who named the island 'Jazeera'. During British occupation the island was named St. Martin Island. During the First Anglo-Burmese War between the British and Burmese empires in 1824–1826, rival claims to the island were a major factor. The local names of the island are "Narikel jinjira" which means 'Coconut Island' in Bengali, and "Daruchini Dwip". It is the only coral island in Bangladesh.

By Bus: Getting to Saint Martins Island by bus is a two-step process. First you'll need to travel to Teknaf which is the Southern most district of Bangladesh on the very southern tip, sandwiched up against Myanmar. One can come to Teknaf by bus from Dhaka, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar. Dhaka to Teknaf bus fare is around BDT 1000 non-A/C and BDT 2000-2200 A/C as of January, 2017.

There are several bus services which depart from Fakirapool, Dhaka to Teknaf. Maximum bus starts at night and the journey is near about 10-11 hours. From Teknaf, mid-level ships run daily and take around 2-2.30 hours named Kutubdia, Keary Sindabad, Keary Dine & Cruise, Eagle-1. The fare starts from BDT 450 to BDT 2500 as of Jan, 2017. All the ships and cruises stars journey from Teknaf to Saint Martin around 9AM-9.30AM and return journey starts from Saint Martin to around 3.00 PM. 

The important thing is, during the off-season (May-August/September) these ships do not provide services because off bad weather. The peak season is September-April. The total distance from Dhaka to the island is 510 km.

Arriving from the port you'll walk through a strip of basic restaurants and shops, and hit a T-junction. Left will take you to the eastern beaches (the cement ends shortly before the scuba dive centre), while a right turn will take you along the main cement 'road' where most of the hotels and guesthouses are, ending at the north-west part of the island.

Food is a little more expensive here than on the mainland.

Village life is slow paced — most work happens in the morning and evening, while midday is reserved for drying fish and rice and selling your coconuts. Or, more likely, sitting in the shade chewing paan.

The food shacks that line the road to the port all cook up similar fare: parothas (Tk 8), omelettes (egg, Tk 20) and vegetable curry (Tk 20) for breakfast, and (fish, dal, rice and veggies at 130 Tk) the rest of the day. Cha is Tk 8.

All of the hotels also have restaurants with basically the same typical Bangladeshi offerings, with higher prices and better quality than those near the port. Chicken is sometimes available but not very tasty, and lobster and crab may be available occasionally at very high prices. The restaurant at Blue Marine Resort and Appayan at St Martin's Resort are the best on the island.

Stars are amazingly plentiful on a moonless night, due to the lack of electricity on the island.

Sunrise on the east side of the island, and after a lazy day head over to the west side for sunset. Sunset Point is a rocky peninsula on the northwest corner of the island, near Saint Martin's Resort, which exists only at low tide — a popular spot if sunset and low tide coincide.

At one point a left turn leads around the newly built hospital and into the centre of the island. It's an interesting walk and eventually leads out to the western beach just north of the Sea Turtle Hatchery, after a couple wrong turns.

Flatbed cycle-rickshaws are the only transport aside from walking. There are no motorized vehicles on the island, not even motorcycles (yay!).

The islanders also sell dried fish, which is a bit more expensive but fresher than those available upshore in Cox's Bazaar.

Early morning is the best time to get fresh fish from the fisherman near the market, you can often bring it to your hotel chef and ask him to fry it up the way you like, or some places may do a nice evening barbeque. Some places may even give you kitchen access to cook it yourself if you ask.

Oceanic Scuba Dive Center, (turn left from the pier at the end of the strip of restaurants, it's a couple hundred meters down on the right, unsigned and well-hidden behind a bamboo gate), ☎ +880 2 955 9751 (divebangladesh@yahoo.com), This is the only dive operation in the country, and is run by a friendly group of ex-navy divers. 

At the moment they only visit one site at the southeast of the island (off Chera Dwip), which is unspectacular but still makes for a nice boat ride and the most activity you could hope for during your stay on the island. They're working towards buying a 'German' boat which will allow them to explore sites further out to sea, which may yield some better diving and more sea life. 

Prices are a little high (and negotiable), but consider that you're contributing to these guys' livelihood and towards expanding the opportunity for future diving. They've also got one bamboo guest hut with two beds if you're diving with them, and they'll cook all your meals for you — an alternative to the lackluster budget accommodation on the island. Food and lodging are by donation. 

On a safety note, this is nothing like a PADI certified dive center, and beginners should take care, especially alone — a guide/buddy is not included (though there's a good chance one of the guys will still come down with you). Tk 2000/dive, Tk 500 snorkel gear rental, Tk 600-800 boat fee. 

Walk the beach to the southern island of Chera Dwip, accessible on foot along a narrow strip of land at low tide, or via a boat shuttle (Tk 5/person) at high tide. Beware of sharp rocks if wading through the water; sandals are ideal. Walking the length of the island takes around 1.5 hours. Take some sunscreen and water (though there's an occasional shack selling drinks, coconuts and snacks).

There are many small shops near the dock/port and along the main road selling very basic necessities and the odd souvenir t-shirts, hats, dry fish, shoe, sandals, dry foods, cosmetics & toiletries and sunglasses and many more. These are relatively cheap from the main town. Specially one must buy dry fish from here, it's relatively cheap and high quality. There are also few restaurants along with the main road of Saint Martins Island. The foods are cheap and good quality to eat. Anyone can complete the Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with various sea foods. Everyone should taste the experience with different sea fishes and food, if once go there.

Sea shells and things made from them are sold by little children around the island, but it's illegal and leads to the depletion of sea life. If any one go there, please not to buy those and encourage others not to buy those. These will slowly damage this Island and the natural life. There are also some fake product come from Myanmar and China. Please try to avoid those and buy the real one.

The island has seen a massive increase in tourism (mostly Bangladeshis) over the last few years, and the fragile ecosystem on the island is not well equipped to handle it. Do what you can to encourage eco-friendly practices, and definitely don't litter the island. It's also a good idea to avoid eating fish at every meal on an island where overfishing is a major problem and sea life is rapidly vanishing.

If you come across sea turtles or their eggs, keep a reasonable distance and don't disturb these fascinating but fragile creatures.

Westerners should be alert to the modest lifestyle of the islanders, especially women. It is not a good idea to swim in public places in western bathing suits, and modest dress is appropriate for both women and men.
